Rick Avery is an award winning Stuntman, StuntCoordinator,Actor,Director, Helicopter Pilot, and Aerial Coordinator, with over 600 feature film, television and commercial credits, including; "Men in Black 2/3", "Captain America", Four Batman Movies, "Ant man", "American Sniper", "Titanic", "The Prestige", "Star Trek Insurrection", "The Abyss", "Gangster Squad", "The Crow", and "Charlie Wilson's War."

Rick won the Screen Actors Guild Cast Award for “Traffic”, the Best Stunt Ensemble Award in a Motion Picture for “Batman Dark Knight” and the 2009 Taurus World Stunt Award for Best Vehicular Work in “Batman Dark Knight. Avery has also been nominated for one other Screen Actors Guild Award. He just received the 2016 Icon award at the Action on Film Festival.

Rick is a seventh degree black belt in Kenpo, a Chinese and Japanese martial art form. He holds over 100 fighting and Kata titles including: Grand champion fighting John Conway in the Flores Bros. International Tournament; Grand Champion in the Santa Barbara California Championships; Special Feature match vs. John Natividad in Kahana’s Championships LosAngeles; fighting Ed Parkers Internationals. In overtime at the San Fernando Championships, Rick won Runner up vs. Benny Urquidez; Grand Champion Fighting at Ron Chappel’s Los Angeles Championships. In 2010 he was inducted into the “Martial Arts Hall of Honors“ for exemplary achievements and dedication to the martial arts.

Rick is a World Champion Boxer having won the USA Masters National Title in 2015 and has just defended his World Boxing Welterweight Championship Title in 2016.

Among Rick’s directing credits are, two feature films and a documentary: “The Expert” and “Deadly Outbreak,” and “Raiders Remembered”, a documentary that won honorable mention at the New York Film Festival. His second unit director credits include:

“Hands of Stone”, “Tenacious D”, “Scream 3”, “Anchorman”, “Identity”, and “The Sweetest Thing. 

Rick’s acting credits include the films, “Ant Man,” “The Last Ship”,

“Hands of Stone “, “Edge of Darkness” opposite Mel Gibson, “Heat”, “Spiderman”, and “Batman Begins” to name a few.

Rick is an accomplished helicopter pilot and instructor with over 7,500 hours. He is the chief pilot for National Helicopters, and was a line pilot for Guardian Helicopters working firefighting for two seasons. He has flown helicopters for "The Closer", "The Bachelor”, “Rizzolli and Isles", "Bloodshot", "Hells Kitchen", numerous commercials, and flew airplanes in "24".

Rick just released his biography, “A Life at Risk”.

He was awarded the Guinness World Record for the biggest car crash in movie history in Blues Brothers 2. 

In his early years Rick was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, and a Santa Barbara Metro Police Officer. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California with his manager/producer wife, Donna ‘Keegan’ Avery and their two dogs.
