ick Avery is the definition of a renaissance man with skills in many professions supported by a substantial resume and highly professional qualifications in each.
ABOUT
Rick Avery is an award-winning stuntman, stunt coordinator, actor, director, author, photographer, helicopter pilot, aerial coordinator with over 700 feature film, television, and commercial credits including,Titanic, Men in Black 2/3, Dunkirk , four Batman Movies, Ant Man, American Sniper, Anchorman, and Heat.
He was awarded the Guinness World Record for the Biggest Car Crash in Movie History for the feature film Blues Brothers 2000 and recently was accepted as a member to the prestigious Motion Picture Academy. Rick is a U.S. Army Veteran leaving with a rank of Sergeant. He served as a Metro and Motorcycle Police Officer in Santa Barbara graduating first in his class as Top Cadet.
He won the Screen Actors Guild's Cast award for Traffic, Best Stunt Ensemble Award in a Motion Picture for Batman Dark Knight, and the 2009 Red Bull Taurus World Stunt Award for Best Vehicular Work in Batman Dark Knight as well as being nominated for two other Screen Actors Guild awards, one for Outstanding Stunt Ensemble in Dunkirk, and one for Outstanding Stunt Ensemble in Batman Dark Knight Rises.
Rick graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Summa Cum Laude top of his class from SNHU in 2020.
Senior Professor Rick Avery has been a martial artist for over 50 years and is a 7th Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate. He holds over 100 fighting and kata titles, the most noteworthy being: 1st Place Internationals fighting, Grand Champion fighting John Conway at the Flores Bros. International tournament. Grand Champion in the Santa Barbara California Championships.Special Feature match vs. John Natividad in Kahana’s Championships, Grand Champion fighting in Ron Chapel's Los Angeles Championships, and is most proud of winning runner up losing to the legendary Benny "The Jet" Urquidez in triple overtime in the San Fernando Karate Championships.
2010 He was inducted to the “Martial Arts Hall of Honors” for Exemplary Achievements and Dedication to the Martial Arts.
2016 He was recognized receiving the Icon Award at the Action on Film Festival.
2017 For the highly coveted Kenpo Legacy Award.
2019 Inducted into the Masters Hall of Fame.
2020 Received the prestigious Joe Lewis Memorial Fighter Award
2020 The History General Award from the Sport Karate Museum.
2020 Inducted into the Masters Boxing Hall of Fame
2022 Awarded the Presidential Golden Volunteer Medal from President Biden.

2022 Received the Lambo Stuntman Living Legend Award
Rick is a three-time World Champion Masters Boxing Champion, and also won the USA Masters National Title in 2015 and three more in 2018 with only one loss on his record. He now promotes Masters Boxing events in Las Vegas.
Among Rick's directing credits are two feature films The Expert and Deadly Outbreak, and a documentary Raiders Remembered which won honorable mention at the New York Film Festival. His second unit directing credits include,
Hands of Stone, Anchorman, Tenacious D, Scream 3, Identity and The Sweetest Thing. He has acting credits in 50 films including Batman Begins, Edge of Darkness, Beverly Hills Cop III, Spiderman and Ant Man.
Rick has been an accomplished pilot for forty years approaching 9,000 safe hours, and was Chief Pilot and Check Airman at the oldest U.S. Helicopter company National Helicopter Service, Inc and is an instructor as well. He fought fires for Guardian Helicopters for two years and he has an extensive flying record in the movie business. 4Bladeshelicopters.com.
Rick has written Five books, including A Life at Risk, His autobiography (published 2016), his first photography book Sidewalks (2022), his first non fiction adventure book The Challenge of the Spirit of Sydney (2022),Too Old to Tell Lies, his book about his stunt career (2023), and Hardened Warriors, a book about the Master Boxer, (2023).
